Participating In Sin Is A Sin

The Bible condemns participating in someone else’s sin several times. For instance, in Luke 17:1–2, Jesus said, ‘There will always be something that causes people to sin. But anyone who causes them to sin is in for trouble. A person who causes even one of my little followers to sin would be better off thrown into the ocean with a heavy stone tied around their neck.’ Likewise, 1 Tim 5:22 commands Christians not to take part in the sin of others. Also, Ephesians 5:11 states, ‘Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.’ These verses indicate that even though one may not directly be sinning, they are still guilty of sin if they participate in it. For instance, although one may not directly inflict cruelty upon animals – spectating, selling, purchasing, or utilizing products made from it would still make one liable for the sin of animal cruelty. Likewise, even though one may not harm animals for amusement directly, they would still be sinning by paying to spectate, exhibit, or in any way support the hurting of animals for entertainment.
